MRC Epidemiology Unit Studies

GoActive

The GoActive study was a cluster-randomised control trial designed to assess the effectiveness of the GoActive programme on increasing adolescents’ physical activity levels.

The study was implemented in 16 schools across Essex and Cambridgeshire with 8 schools receiving the GoActive programme, and 8 remaining as control schools. Measurements assessing physical activity, body composition and psychosocial factors were obtained across 4 different time points.

The primary aim of the study was to assess whether the GoActive programme is effective as a school intervention to increase the time adolescents spend being physically active.
