Aims of the study
To learn from the pandemic and progress towards the national physical activity target, the aims of this study are:
Understand how the Covid-19 pandemic has influenced adolescents’ physical activity behaviour.
Understand whether adolescents’ think the pandemic will have long-term consequences on their physical activity behaviour.
Understand what adolescents’ think can be done to help them become more active as we emerge from the pandemic.
Design
This study takes a qualitative research design, as it aims to understand adolescents’ experiences and perspectives of physical activity during and beyond the pandemic. Two methods of data collection will be used. The main method will be one-to-one semi-structures interviews, conduction virtually. Participants will also have the option to participate in a Photovoice element of the study. Photovoice is an engage and research process where participants use photo images to capture aspects of their environment.
Participants were recruited into the study via their school, local community group or by social media. Eligible participants were in years 9-13.
